St Mabyn is a picturesque village on the top of a hill surrounded by undulating farmland. It has a historic church and excellent local pub. A short drive will get you to the postcard perfect ports of Port Issac, Port Quin and Port Gaverne also great starting points for coastal walks. While the golden beaches, water sports and restaurants available at Polzeath, Constantine Bay (both ideal for surfing), Rock and Padstow are all within 30 minutes' drive.
Places to eat out include the local pub, St Tudy pub, St Kew Inn, Padstow restaurants, including Rick Stein's and Wadebridge – a bustling market town with all the amenities you could need. This is also where the Camel Trail to Padstow begins.
Close by, Bodmin Moor and Roughtor to the east are lovely walking spots. There are also a wealth of National Trust properties in the area to visit. Further afield, the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Newquay and the city of Truro are all within an hour's drive. You could also head further south for a longer day trip to Falmouth, St Ives or Land's End.
North Cornwall is home to a tremendous choice of golf courses to suit all golfers including St Enodoc which overlooks the Camel estuary. If you are a keen golfer, there are a number of fine golf courses nearby including St Kew, Roserrow (Polzeath), St Enodoc (Rock) and Bowood (Lanteglos).
